This coming September, Rowing Ireland’s Women in Sport and Get Going Get Rowing are launching Women on the Water. This programme aims to introduce adult women from across the country to rowing at a recreational level.
The programme works to benefit clubs, maximising resources, generating revenue and attracting new membership – by making use of facilities outside of peak times. Target groups can benefit from the facilities and quiet water at non-peak times, whilst enabling clubs to maximise their resources.
The Women on the Water model is similar to Get Going Get Rowing; an 8-week programme run by a paid community coach or club coach, with participant sign up and management through the Rowing Ireland website.
Here at Loughros Point Rowing Club we are looking for four adult females who would like to have a go and get involved in rowing. It is claimed that it is one of the best sport for building up core strength. While we are all familiar with the use of rowing machines in gym, imagine what it would be like to be gliding through the clear waters at Shannaghan?
