Loughros Point Rowing Club - a brief history.

Established in 2010, Loughros Point Rowing club is built on the tradition of hundreds of years of the rowing prowess of all coastal communities.

Limited by facilities but keen to get going, we borrowed a fixed seat traditional Donegal skiff, and managed to put together a men’s team and a lady’s team to compete in two of the local regatta’s that summer.

Throughout the winter we fundraised and managed to gather enough to build our own boats.

By 2013 we were competing in our first national regatta with a coastal boat. Building on this we have managed to grow as a club and we now row at local, national, and international competitions.

2017 brought about our affiliation with Rowing Ireland and our participation in all three codes of rowing: river, offshore and coastal rowing.

The club has in recent years committed to the promotion of girls and young women in sport through our affiliation with 20X20.ie and also the Rowing Ireland – Women in Sport

Through he auspices of Rowing Ireland all our coaches have trained in coaching excellence.

The club currently boasts 80 members from age 12 up to adults.
