Last month we received a call from a local school in Ardara, Gortnacart National School inviting us to come into the school as part of ”Active School Week”. We were delighted to be part of this initiative.
As all sports have to be conducted outside at the moment, we brought in our rowing machines and set them up on the school playground. Adhering to Covid guidelines we taught the students how to use the rowing machine properly and using the correct techniques. This is essential before entering the water.
This was a unique experience for the children and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
Over the last few years we have seen an increase in interest from the primary school children in the parish becoming members of Loughros Point Rowing Club.
